Food Chain – Charity Team Building Activity

As proud Official Partners to The Trussell Trust Food Bank, this charity team building activity is dear to our hearts; each group will be allocated a section of the overall chain reaction and provided with a selection of food items, hygiene products, and craft materials to build their part of the sequence. Creativity and problem-solving are key as teams must ensure their section connects seamlessly to the next. This food is then donated at the end of the activity to a local food bank and with thirteen million people living below the poverty line in the UK, this activity really can make a difference to those people.

Food Chain is a high-energy, collaborative team building exercise that combines creativity, teamwork, and social impact. Designed to last between 1-3 hours, this engaging activity sees teams constructing an elaborate chain reaction-style contraption using non-perishable food items and essential hygiene products. These items, along with additional supplies brought by delegates, will be donated to The Trussell Trust the UK’s largest food bank network (and official Partners of Zing Events) — helping to support those facing food poverty.

How Does Food Chain Charity Team Building Activity Work?

As with all of our activities you are welcomed to the activity by one of our friendly hosts. We set the scene for the activity and can arrange for a spokesperson from the charity or an inspiration video to further cement the importance of this activity;

The activity is split into a number of different parts that ensure that everyone is involved in the activity:

WELCOME & PURPOSE

Zing Events introduces the activity, explaining the concept and impact. A short video showcases how donations help those in need.

TEAM FORMATION & BRIEFING

Teams are formed and assigned sections of the chain-reaction. Overview of materials and brainstorming time.

BUILD & CONNECT

Teams construct their sections using food items, hygiene products, and craft materials. Collaboration and problem-solving as teams ensure seamless transitions.

FOOD CHAIN IN ACTION

The first team sets off the sequence, creating an exciting ripple effect. Teams watch as their combined efforts result in a successful reaction.

REFLECTION & IMPACT

Discussion on teamwork and problem-solving takeaways. Final thoughts on the charity impact, followed by donation presentation.

DONATION
At the end of the activity we do a wrap up and end with a message of thanks from the charity. The food that is used in the activity is then delivered to the local food bank. Where possible we will capture photo’s of the handover to share with you and your team.

Venue Requirements

An indoor space, provided empty, large enough to provide each team with a large area of flat floor space. Ideally 3mx3m per team.

We will travel to any venue or location we are required to; please see what we require from you above.

There are several variables that dictate the cost of this activity, including the number of guests and the location; enquire with us now, and we’ll have a bespoke proposal and quote to you within a couple of hours.

We prefer Credit Card to ensure payment is made in advance of the event. You can however pay by BACS if payment terms can be met.

We have a very large team of fully trained and charismatic Event Hosts – so only rarely are we sold out.

You do not need to provide any equipment whatsoever. Just a space for the event to take place.

We’ve run this activity for 500 people at once – there is no upper limit. We would recommend that your whole group is more than 8 people.

We recommend 6-8 people per team, however there is flexibility if required.

The booking can be at whatever time or date you like – the booking will be exclusive to your group. We regularly run events for global teams so our team can nearly always accommodate you.

Bookings are based on minimum chargeable numbers, but if numbers do increase we will provide an invoice for any extras.
