How Does The Trading Floor Stocks and Shares Team Building Activity Work?

The event begins with the host, known as the ‘Trader’, entering in his pinstripes and braces. He puts the teams through their paces with some quick energisers, then explains how the trading floor activity works. Teams allocate various roles such as finance manager, investment analyst, media analyst and who could forget the Trader. Roles are swapped throughout the activity to ensure everyone experiences each section of the Trading simulation.

Syndicates are issued with a team pack which includes information about all the companies they will be investing in. There are 10 company portfolios that cover a diverse range of industries from construction to pharmaceutical, finance to football.

When the trading bell rings for the first trading window all eyes are on the trading screen which constantly changes as stock prices fall and rise. There are also live news reports and tweets which change the dynamic of the market. Teams respond accordingly and start doing deals at the trading desks at the front of the room.

Each of the trading windows lasts about 20 minutes and the ‘Trader’ is constantly commenting and referring to developments, maintaining a high level of focus and energy.

As the bell rings at the end of the final window, syndicates add up their total “final capital value” and the winning team is announced.

This activity can last between 2-3 hours to fit your agenda:

  • Group split into smaller teams of 6-8 participants
  • Expert guidance from our Event Team throughout
  • Syndicates collaborate to make informed decisions and investments
  • Job roles are rotated to give guests exposure to all areas of the Trading process.
  • Observe Share prices soar-and-dive on our giant screen
  • Each team is judged on their profit and capital value when Trading closes
  • Wrap up and winners announced, prizes awarded.

Venue Requirements

An indoor space, large enough to provide each team with a large conference style table, and an area for the Cashier desks too.

We will travel to any venue or location we are required to; please see what we require from you above.

There are several variables that dictate the cost of this activity, including the number of guests and the location; enquire with us now, and we’ll have a bespoke proposal and quote to you within a couple of hours.

We prefer Credit Card to ensure payment is made in advance of the event. You can however pay by BACS if payment terms can be met.

We have a very large team of fully trained and charismatic Event Hosts – so only rarely are we sold out.

You do not need to provide any equipment whatsoever. Just a space for the event to take place.

We’ve run this activity for 500 people at once – there is no upper limit. We would recommend that your whole group is more than 8 people.

We recommend 6-8 people per team, however there is flexibility if required.

The booking can be at whatever time or date you like – the booking will be exclusive to your group. We regularly run events for global teams so our team can nearly always accommodate you.

Bookings are based on minimum chargeable numbers, but if numbers do increase we will provide an invoice for any extras.
