Whilst a few days ago we were getting inspired by the vast variety of indoor venues that are on offer in Leeds, today we’ve moved on to Newcastle, and are exploring the outdoor spaces nearby. It’s at this time of year that anyone planning a large scale summer outdoor team building day or summer party will probably be starting to look for venues, and Newcastle has an excellent selection.
As Newcastle is the most populous city in the North East, and well known for being a centre of corporate headquarters, digital technology and culture, it might not spring to mind as the best place to hold an outdoor team building event. However, Newcastle encompasses many beautiful outdoor areas that, on a sunny day in June, would make the perfect location for a corporate team building away day.
For example, Exhibition Park is a huge outdoor area which also boasts a skate park, a military museum, a boating lake and crazy golf. Your guests are certain to be entertained even after they have finished taking part in their corporate team building activities!

The Soap Box Derby pits a number of teams against each other, challenging them to see who can create the most inventive and aerodynamic soapbox cars. The cars are then raced against each other with one steely nerved team member elected to be the driver. This outdoor team building activity is not just a competitive challenge, it also requires the teams to work together collaboratively to utilise the individual team members’ skills in the most effective way possible. As well as being a hands-on technical challenge, the teams also need a creative flair to design a theme for their creations.
